This gallery will help you to understand a bit more where I got the inspiration to develop Atnomen.
The Phantom of The Opera, the Gaston Leroux novel, inspired many characters and scenes from Atnomen. Lena Almgreen is inspired by Christine Daaé, the Swedish soprano who is the source of obsession for Erik, the Phantom. Both women are young, blonde, petite, naive and exceptionally strong and resilient.
Besides The Phantom of the Opera, I couldn’t forget to mention the all time classic Beauty and the Beast, a story that I have loved since a child and that brings the same subjects that are present in Atnomen.
Rain is heavily inspired by Peter Steele, the lead vocalist, bassist and composer of the gothic metal band Type O Negative. His dark sensual songs like Love You To Death, Christian Woman, My Girlfriend’s Girlfriend, Black Nº 1, Bloody Kisses, Be My Druidess, Wolf Moon and Cinnamon Girl are a constant inspiration for scenes and chapters. Other songs about death and life in general like Everything Dies, Red Water, We Are Electrocute and more also inspire the darker chapters and backstory of the main characters.
Also, Nightwish, a Finnish symphonic metal band from Kitee, Finland, inspired many scenes and the lyrics are usually used as a font of inspiration for chapters and chapters names. Being a childhood obsession of mine, all the gothic mood transpired into Atnomen.
