Lena Almgreen is a desperate young woman who holds on to an abusive betrothal with Mikael Buquett, a cruel and vile local Minister. 

Forced to hide her worship of an ancient forbidden god, Lena begins to trust her troubles to a large stone gargoyle she affectionately calls Rain, unaware that he is an enslaved demon king, cursed by the church to be their unwilling slave.
